Setting up my email in Outlook 2013


Make sure that, before setting up your email on your computer, you create a new email account. Do not edit a previously setup account with new details.
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. Click the File tab.
  3. In the Info category, click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings in the dropdown.
  4. On the Email tab, click New.
  5. Click the Manual setupor additional server types check box, and then click Next.
  6. Select POP, and then click Next.
  7. Under User Information, configure the following settings:
  8. In the Your Name box, Type the name you wish displayed when people receive your emails.
  9. In the Email Address box, type your full email address (eg. "your-name@your-domain.com").
  10. Under Server Information, selct IMAP.
  11. In the Incoming mail server box, enter imap.gmail.com
  12. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, enter smtp.gmail.com
  13. Under Logon Information, configure the following settings:
  14. In the User Name box, enter your full email address (eg. your-name@your-domain.com).
  15. In the Password box, enter the password for the email account you are setting up.
  16. Check Remember Password if you do not want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
  17. Do not check the boxes labelled Log on using Secure... or My server requires authentication.
  18. Configure your Outlook/server advanced settings: click on More Settings, this will load a new window.
  19. Click the General Settings Tab.
    In the Delivery section, please make sure Leave A Copy Of Mail On The Server is checked, Tick the Remove Mail From Server check box, select a period no longer than 14 days and no shorter than 4.
    Click the Advanced Settings Tab, make sure the incoming port number is 993 and Outgoing mail port number is: 465 and Tick the requires secure connection box.
    Once these are selected click OK, once the pop up window has closed Click Next, and then click Finish, once the setup process has completed please restart your Outlook application.
  20. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  21. Restart Outlook.

Congratulations, you've just set up an e-mail account in Microsoft Outlook 2013.
