What is an RSS feed?

RSS feeds allow you to alert others when you have added new content to your website.

The purpose of the feed is to generate traffic to your website, as your clients will see that you have updated content on your website and they will be able to click on the "read more" link to view the full article or to listen to your latest podcast.

If you have either of the following software add-ins, you automatically have an RSS feed that is created for you and is updated every night:

  • Article listing software (this requires Database Marketing software)
  • the Blog
  • the Podcasting software

The feed can be sent to your users in a number of ways, including:

  • Users can subscribe to your feed using an application on their desktop, such as Microsoft Outlook or Feeddemon
  • Users can subscribe to your feed using an online web-based tool
  • It can appear on an alliances' website
  • It can be fed into your Facebook Company page using apps
